Janet Jaffke - monochromatic stripes in red #4

This week I really wanted to strengthen my understanding of color’s properties: value (light and dark), hue (shade), and saturation (intensity). I did some exercises where composition wasn’t as important as the study of color. I limited my palette and worked monochromatically using either red, yellow or green. The object was to create unity in a piece while at the same time keeping it interesting. I used a series of stripes but varied them in length, width and direction and utilized the three properties of color.
