About this Gallery

This collection of work was early dive into combining mark making with collage, found objects and painting techniques. In these pieces I developed an interest in texture that was created mostly through layers of paint. Little by little the importance of texture as an element is becoming more important and therefor I  began to strip away color in order to let the texture be the focus.

All pieces are acrylic mixed media on wood panel.

The first several images in this gallery represent a series titled “Captured”. The series explores the ideas of

  • Being trapped or contained
  • Prison takes many forms, prisoner to speech, personal thoughts, fears and beliefs as well as rules and norms of society
  • In the end, the hope is to break free of whatever holds us captive by our own choices
