My formal training at the School of Art Institute was in Textile and Fiber Art. After graduation, I began my own business designing and manufacturing hand-painted fabrics and clothing for apparel and site-specific interiors. My clothing line was carried by specialty stores and boutiques as well as Saks Fifth Avenue. These are just a few samples of the work I did. I continue to use some of the techniques I developed at this time in my current mixed media work.
- Multiple painting techniques and tools used in each piece; brushes, natural sponges, squeeze and spray bottles, stamps, silkscreens and stencils
- Pattern was applied to fabric different points of production, both in the yardage state and sometimes after garment construction
- Each piece a unique, handmade and one-of-a-kind was signed and referred to as “wearable art”
