About this Gallery

These studies were an exercise in rapidly beginning a painting without hesitation or judgment. The objective was to paint freely and begin to develop random areas that held interest for me.

All of this work was done with acrylic paint and graphite on paper.

  • Preselected 4 or 5 colors of paint on a palette
  • Covered the entire surface randomly and quickly with these colors in 30 seconds
  • Added a scribble linear element with a graphite pencil
  • Continued the process of discerning areas of interest while covering others
